Two Bulldog Volleyball Seniors Earn GLIAC Player Of Week Honors For Second Consecutive Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - For the second week in a row, the same two Ferris State University senior volleyball standouts have been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Players of the Week.

FSU senior outside hitter Olivia Henneman-Dallape (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) claimed the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week distinction this week while senior setter Kaylee Maat (Hudsonville) was the recipient of the GLIAC Setter of the Week award. Both previously claimed the same recognition at week ago.

This past week, the duo led the Bulldogs to a pair of impressive road wins to open GLIAC play. FSU topped rival and then 16th-ranked Grand Valley State by a 3-1 score in the league opener on Friday night in Allendale before sweeping Wayne State 3-0 on Saturday in Detroit to move to 9-0 overall this year.

Henneman-Dallape finished the weekend with 36 kills and hit .314 overall in the two victories. The veteran standout recorded 5.14 kills per set and finished with 5.86 points per set in the two wins. She had a team-high 19 kills in the win over GVSU along with a squad-best 17 kills against Wayne State, hitting an impressive .571 against the Warriors with only a single attack error on 28 attempts.

Meanwhile, Maat tallied 72 assists to go with 17 digs, six kills and an ace on the weekend. The Bulldog setter recorded 35 assists with eight digs, two kills and an ace in the win over GVSU before netting 37 assists, nine digs and four kills against the Warriors. For the weekend, she averaged 10.29 assists along with 2.43 digs per set for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State vaulted two spots to seventh in the nation this week in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) D2 National Rankings.

This week, the Bulldogs continue their season-opening 12-match road swing by heading to Michigan's Upper Peninsula next weekend. FSU will face Michigan Tech on Friday (Sept. 27) evening in Houghton before squaring off against Northern Michigan on Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon in Marquette.
